Joe Vuthiganon, B.S. 2002

General Dentist/Associate Professor, Medical University of SC - James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine – Charleston, SC

2002 Major: Biology

How has being a Biology graduate from Duke helped shape you personally and/or professionally?

"The biology program at Duke prepared me very well for what lay ahead. After having gone through several challenging courses on Science Drive, I found that I was ready to take on the rigorous course work of dental school."

What advice would you give students in Duke's Biology programs?

"Enjoy your time and all the great experiences available to you at Duke. if you’re on a health professions track, be open to all options in health care. Like many in my class, I started out as pre-med and planned to pursue an MD. In the end, I decided to join the dental dark side and not only become a dentist but also an educator. It has been a rewarding career where I’m not only helping my patients, but also helping to train future dentists."
