2007 Major: Biology
"Duke’s Biology program is one of the most sought after and fun programs. The classes are taught in a fun, friendly manner making it easy to interact and seek extra help. The labs are the most fun though, the sense of teamwork and camaraderie is everlasting - our biology lab group still discusses our projects and the fun we had doing the lab report. Taking that nurturing learning experience, I applied a similar methodology in my professional life. I worked as the Biotech Manager for a pharmaceutical company to set up their Biotech laboratories and Quality Control Department. With the technical expertise acquired at Duke, I was easily able to create SOPs and select the best machines. In addition, I trained the staff in the same friendly manner I was taught, giving a sense of inclusion and camaraderie between staff which has lasted ever since. We are so happy to maintain an efficient, friendly environment at work and I thank Duke for making all of this possible."
