How has being a Biology graduate from Duke helped shape you personally and/or professionally?

"My BS in biology as well as from psychology led to my career in medicine. The Duke curriculum was very challenging and my classmates were the most competitive and talented people you could imagine. I would say that my experience at Duke got me well prepared for the next step in medical school and beyond."

What advice would you give students in Duke's Biology programs?

"I would recommend to balance your biology education with non-scientific disciplines as well. Look for the connections between them. Duke offers the best of both worlds and I am sure it offers even more as compared to when I finished my undergraduate studies in 2003. The climate crisis is one of the gravest challenges we all face and your Duke biology degree can be used to combat this challenge and misinformation that is out there about climate change not being real. Also look to where biology intersects with technology and computers."
