Daniel Huber, B.S. 2000

The University of Tampa

2000 Major: Biology

How has being a Biology graduate from Duke helped shape you personally and/or professionally?

"It set the stage for my career in academia, especially because my PhD advisor was also a Duke alumnus and seeing Duke on my application caught his attention. As I progressed through my PhD and into my career (I am now the Chair of the Department of Environmental Studies at The University of Tampa), the quality of my Duke education has helped me to develop and deliver my personal educational philosophy about experiential, interdisciplinary education."

What advice would you give students in Duke's Biology programs?

"Take every opportunity you can because the only thing more important than figuring out what you want to do with the rest of your life is figuring out what you don't want to do with the rest of your life."
