Brie Jackson, B.S. 2016

Medical Student – Buffalo, NY

2016 Major: Biology (with distinction); minor in Art History

How has being a Biology graduate from Duke helped shape you personally and/or professionally?

"The quality of education that I received from the Biology department set me up for many future successes. The faculty are among the most supportive and thoughtful educators on campus, and the programming expertly merges depth-of-study with general applicability. Potential employers could see that I was very skilled within the sciences, and without an overly niche degree I had the flexibility to pursue different career interests before entering medical school."

What advice would you give students in Duke's Biology programs?

"Take advantage of your opportunities and find a thoughtful mentor; offer them genuine interest along with engaged, high-quality work."
