How has being a Biology graduate from Duke helped shape your professional success?
"My early career launched as a result of courses taken at Duke. I had the opportunity to travel through the Duke Marine Lab and through a semester abroad course, and acquired skills that made me a competitive candidate for internships. From there, I joined the Peace Corps and was given an assignment that fit my experiences, and further reinforced my trajectory since undergraduate study at Duke."
What advice would you give students in Biology?
"Your degree will help distinguish you from other job applicants, but the best thing you can do is make connections with faculty and researchers who have connections, can provide an earnest recommendation for you, and who can help you make an impression amidst what is often hundreds of qualified applicants."
