Field Station

Overview

The Field Station, located on Lemur Lane adjacent to the Duke Lemur Center, is one of two sites for in-ground plant research. We have two fields (14,880 ft2 & 13,096 ft2) surrounded by of 8’high deer fence which can be rented seasonally to research labs for large-scale experiments that need natural exterior conditions. Unlike our core facilities on campus, staff services at the Field Station are limited. We provide field preparation each spring by mowing and tilling. Water & electricity are available year-round at the site, however, researchers need to bring all the equipment necessary for the maintenance of their experiments. Storage space for active research projects will be provided in the Field Station’s barn.
