Prof. Alberts Gets the Last Word

Prof. Alberts Gets the Last Word

Prof. Susan Alberts is featured in a June 20 Washington Post article about undergraduates editing Wikipedia. The article describes how undergraduates are writing lengthy, well-resourced articles for Wikipedia in lieu of term papers.  Susan Alberts has been giving this assignment for five years in her behavioral ecology class, and estimates that her students have collectively added 26,600 words to the online knowledge source.  The effort is fostered by the Wiki Education Foundation, which trains the students in editing and posting procedures.  The Post gives Alberts the last word: “As a communications exercise, it works. Where else is student work going to have that kind of impact?”
