William Knechtle, B.S. 2008

Strategic Services Associate, Duke University Health System

2008 Major: Biology; 2017 MBA

How has being a Biology graduate from Duke helped shape your professional success?

"International recognition of this substantive and competitive major has made it easy to earn a phone interview for most jobs or graduate schools I have submitted applications for in research, public health, and healthcare services fields."

What advice would you give students in Biology?

"Start with a strong understanding of whether you want to work in academia, industry, or clinical care (or another landscape). I have found that a bachelor's degree in biology is more valuable in academia and biology or life sciences industries than it is in a clinical / health services setting. Many biology students will find they need a graduate degree to support and find further meaning within their professional life."
