Schmid Lab Featured in NSF Blog

Amy Schmid's lab recently published a study of oxidative stress in Archaea in PLoS Genetics, "A Regulatory Hierarchy Controls the Dynamic Transcriptional Response to Extreme Oxidative Stress in Archaea" (PLoS Genetics 11/1: e1004912).  NSF's Division of Molecular and Cellular Biosciences, which funded the project, has featured the research on its blog.  The study casts light on how environmental stress may have shaped the evolution of the organism's response to stress.  The blog post also featured the variety of the research team, which included graduate and undergraduate student trainees.  In addition the research forms the basis of a one-week summer outreach course for high school students.  Yay, Schmid Lab!  Doing it all with one exciting study!
