Biology for Engineers: Informing Engineering Decisions
BIOLOGY 275A
Biology from an engineering perspective. Emphasis on biological processes that inform engineering decisions. Topics include: environmental chemicals, biological command and control, nanostructures, e-waste, biology and engineered materials, organotoxins, metaltoxins, nanotoxins, biofouling, biomemetics, biological glues, biocorrosion, biodegradation, bioremediation, biological resistance, and biological virulence. Environmental and human health policy. Taught in Beaufort at Duke Marine Lab. Prerequisite: introductory chemistry.
