1997 Major: Biology; minors in Chemistry and Chinese
"I had a number of really meaningful biology classes at Duke, including neurobiology, ecology, developmental biology (lab course), plant physiology, and biochemistry. This broad learning in biology set me up to share my passion for science through my work in education. I started out as a public high school biology teacher, and my journey took me to also teach earth science, physical science, and chemistry as I taught in high schools and middle schools in California, Texas, Saudi Arabia, and Washington. In my current role as a school administrator, I continue to mentor new science teachers."
"Take advantage of the range of biology classes offered at Duke, including ones that involve labs or field studies."
