How has being a Biology graduate from Duke helped shape you personally and/or professionally?

"The challenge posed by the courses needed for my major taught me how to apply my intellectual curiosity effectively to learn, to seek help from classmates and my professors, and to persevere. These skills were very important in medical school, residency, and fellowship."

What advice would you give students in Duke's Biology programs? 

"I would encourage them to take a broad breadth of courses. Undergrad at Duke was the last time I was able to take classes purely for educational fulfillment and interest rather than in a goal directed manner."
