Introduction to Matlab programming and numerical methods for biological systems. Implementation of models for ecological and evolutionary dynamics and cellular and molecular dynamics. Topics covered include basic programming fundamentals (for/while/if statements), data input/output, data structures, numerical simulations of deterministic and stochastic systems. Includes a final project, decided upon by the student. Prerequisites: Biology 201L and 202L, or the equivalent, or consent of the instructor. One course. 3 graduate units.
