Antecedentes

El caso de estudio de la Región de Coquimbo será llevado a cabo del septiembre 26 - octubre 1 (2008). Este es el 7th taller de ARIDnet - Americas en la serie de sistemas humano-ambientales (H-A) (Reynolds et al. 2003).

Background

The Coquimbo Region Case Study will be held September 26-October 1 (2008). This is the 7th ARIDnet - Americas workshop in the series on coupled human-environment (H-E) systems (Reynolds et al. 2003).

METAS

Las metas generales para el caso de estudio de la Región de Coquimbo son: :

  • Dirigir un análisis basado en el DDP;
  • Identificar los factores y procesos socioeconómicos y biofísicos críticos, y las escalas críticas a las cuales estos son relevantes;
  • Criticar y analizar de la Región de Coquimbo en el contexto del marco de trabajo del DDP
  • Contribuir con nuestros avances a la red de sistemas de conocimiento de tierras degradadas en América; y
  • Sintetizar y presentar los resultados del taller en una revista internacional con arbitraje

GOALS

The general goals for the Coquimbo Region Case Study are:

  • to conduct a DDP-based analysis;
  • to identify critical socioeconomic and biophysical factors and processes, and the critical scales at which they are important;
  • to critique and analyze the Coquimbo Region in the context of the DDP framework.
  • to contribute our findings to the network of knowledge systems on land degradation in the Americas; and
  • to synthesize and submit the results of the workshop to a peer-reviewed, international journal
